A premium e-commerce platform connecting design-conscious global buyers directly with Amazigh women weavers in the Atlas Mountains — zero middlemen, 100% fair trade.
The
Challenge
The traditional Moroccan rug trade is dominated by a long chain of middlemen — exporters, wholesalers, and mass retailers — that extracts most of the value before it reaches the Amazigh weavers who spend months on each piece. The client needed a direct-to-consumer platform that could position handwoven Berber rugs as luxury collectibles while transparently communicating the fair-trade model and weaver stories to a design-conscious international audience.
The
Solution
We built a Next.js storefront optimised for visual storytelling, with a collection architecture that maps to the geographical and cultural origin of each rug type. The bespoke order flow allows buyers to commission custom pieces directly with master weavers. A 5%-reinvestment model is woven into the brand and surfaced throughout the UX — from the homepage to checkout — reinforcing trust and mission alignment. The platform is deployed on Vercel for edge performance and global reach, targeting buyers in Europe, the US, and the Gulf.
Key
Outcome
A mission-driven, conversion-optimised storefront that elevates Amazigh craftsmanship to its rightful premium positioning — enabling weavers to set their own prices, receive 100% upfront payment, and reach an international audience without a single intermediary.
